What Programming Languages are used in Salesforce?

Front end –

  1. Visualforce (an XML syntax typically used to generate HTML)
  2. Aura Components (Client side)
  3. Lightning web components (LWC)

Back end – Apex (an on-demand proprietary Java-like programming language for Force.com)

Query processing – Salesforce Object Query Language(SOQL) and Salesforce Object Search Language (SOSL) (Similar to SQL, returns list of Salesforce records, objects, count, sum etc…). Anyhow SOQL and SOSL is part of APEX, so it can’t be called a query language.

What database is used by Salesforce?

Salesforce uses the Oracle database to handle the fierce processing of our CRM software and hundreds of millions of records. Salesforce also utilized PostgreSQL, Amazon RedShift and a few other databases, but the majority of its platform runs on Oracle Databases. But Salesforce is so much more than just a database.
