Salesforce has many record types and this list view option tutorial is applicable to both List and Relationship record types.

In this video, I talk about creating the option of a related list in Salesforce Lightning. In other words, if you have a lookup field in a page layout where you’re showing related records, you would use the List view option to provide a dropdown selection of those related records.
